cactuskit, the chicken rice at the coffee shop in Marine Terrace (the one near the ATM) is good, too.

Actually I find the ginger at 5 stars to be a little bland. It is too "clean" and finely chopped for me. I had ginger with a bit of kick at Yeo Keng Name where the ginger still looks as if it was pounded.

I normally eat the carrot cake if I'm there for brunch. If it's lunch then I'll eat the chicken rice. Nice.

If chilli so important in chicken rice or the rice more important than chicken might as well just eat the chilli with Primataste chicken rice mixture cooked chicken rice. It is the whole package and how well it is put together that matters.

Agree. I found it very difficult to choose. All three are vitally important. One area lousy and the whole experience sucks...

No beer burps for chicken rice. It smells worst with garlic mixed in it. Beer burps must smell nutty.

good ginger is the hk style type which is lightly salted, fried briefly in oil and mixed in with spring onions. lightly pan frying it brings out the fragrance of the ginger. only young ginger must be used.

really? the one that used to be there in the 80s and early 90s was pretty good... when they shifted out, there wasn't any good replacements anymore..

i still like oldschool one at golden shoe hawker center.. 3rd floor beside the $2 mixed rice stall nearest the staircase, run by an old couple and a moustached man. that is good chicken rice.
