 Yummy Food in Ipoh
« Thread Started on Nov 25, 2008, 1:38pm »

I heard that Ipoh lots of Hakka ?
So with Ieat's polls, its little wonder that the food there tasted...FANTASTIC !!!!

Was there on sat and sun......drove up immediately upon landing in singapore

Coffeeshop Sin Lean Lee along Jln Panglima
This place opens only in the morning and lunch.....very crowded, difficult to get seats !!

Ipoh's famous white coffee.....

Very Pro....coffee cups are warmed up before serving

ohhfff...this is chee cheong fun....dun be decieved by its plain looks....the soya sauce is underneath..... super soft and so thin it looks like kway teow...... saw a guy wallop 3 plates of these babies

Wok hei extra over here for this char kway teow...egg is added last...like a "plaster"

that explains some of the wok hei !! all ingredients are blanched in oil first

beef balls....some with the tendon type......the taste of the tendon ball is unique to Ipoh i think....like mixed with some ginger

beef ball auntie........

continue later....

btw, peanut pancake is called "dai3 gao3 meen3" = big piece noodle.
dun ask me why

forgot the road name...but you can ask anyone in town....they will know

shop name...

the secret peanut/sugar fillings mixture....

the board the owner uses to cut up the pancake......heard its handed down from her father, look at all the formed lines !!

Wow! Nice pixs and lovely makan trail. I may be heading up to KL again next month with my family. Nothing's confirmed yet, but I'll hit the delicacies at PJ this time. Fren who lives there already drew up a list for us already. :)

coincidentally I had Ipoh Horfun for lunch at this relatively new small Ipoh Food eatery that's on level one facing Cuppage Terrace. The sauce is more diulted and overall tasty, also enjoyed my Ice White Ipoh Coffee :)

Colleague had the Ipoh Dried Curry Noodle which was also quite different, black sauce on the noodles that's topped with chicken curry which I tried was spicy as how I would like it :)

cactus..... waiting for your KL pics !!!

i was using 24mm 1.4 lah.......rather versatile lens isnt it ? nice bokeh, just that cannot take close up. i heard the 24mm 1.4 II will be out soon, so the price may drop.

mien, i was using the 50mm 1.4 before this, you might be able to take pics similar to ieat's 60mm...mooohohahahahaha...

Will get them up soon. Not very please with pictures this time. Most of the nicer eats in the nites due to daytime work. Lighting not ideal. Also didn't bother to properly frame them.
