I tried this one at Changi Village. Black type. Quite shiok. It is located next to the Ipoh Hor Fun stall. Will need to bring my camera one day to blog it. They steam their own on the premises.

If you like Black Carrot Cake, you have to try the stall at Bedok Interchange Food Centre. It's at the other end of the row facing the public carpark. Run by a husband and wife team. Price $2.50. There is almost always a queue. They operate in the morning and it's run by a different lady in the afternoon. Closes on Sunday.

I like the Black Carrot Cake at Bedok Interchange Food Centre.

For the white one, I like Blk 137 Toa Payoh Lor 2. Recently, I found one not bad, coffee shop at the roundabout near Blk 762 Bedok Reservoir View. Golden brown and crispy on the outside, soft inside and not too oily.

Double the portion, but how is the taste?

When it comes to carrot cake, what would be of interest to me is:

Do they steam their own Carrot Cake?
Do they fry the Chye Poh first?
What is special about them -- extra crispy, extra thick, etc

well...to me itz nice...but itz kinda subjective aint it?
they dun steam their own carrot cake n neither is there anything exceptionally special about it, but....i like it! and in the world of rising cost nowadays....$2 for a plate that u can share among 2 ladies....itz gotta be at least worth a try isnt it? =)

There are 2 that I heard about but have yet to try.

One is at the beginning of Telok Kurau Road in an old coffeeshop. They only sell in the morning. Apparently, the old lady fries the chye poh first before adding to the carrot cake.

The other one is at Jago close. Anyone's favourite?

do u guys realised that the carrot cake these days dun have the radish in them?

even those sold in supermarket is just flour n water mixed n steamed...

i will normally pester my dad to make the carrot cake.. then we fry it ourselves...
normally i will cut them into pieces, fry them til it is crispy outside... then fry the chaipoh... add soy sauce n sweet sauce n eat..
the best chai poh will be those big pieces and not those readily cut up n in packets where u get from the supermarkets/market...

I can't seem to find anymore the white carrot cake that is crispy outside and very very very soft on the inside... The Bukit Timah's FC used to be like that...but not anymore. Long ago at Sentosa's there's this open air FC near Fantasy Island also had carrot cake like that but also gone.

But now no matter where I go no more..... anybody know? Truly appreciate if you can let me know. Thanks!!!!!

I'm a fan of the more savoury/peppery white carrot cake. My favourite carrot cake stall (and pretty much the only cc stall I patronise...) is the one at ABC Brickworks market. It's the right balance of pepper/chai poh/egg/sweet spring onions and soft fluffy carrot cake that really gets to me all the time. Fantastic stuff.

I can't remember the name of the stall (I'm sorry!!) but it's the one that's along the inner left aisle of hawkers, near the back where the market is... i.e. if you enter in from the loading bay, it'll be in front of you on your diagonal right. I'm not sure what time they open, but they stay open till midnight sometimes!

Sorry about that :'(

Inner left is when you're coming from the outside (from the bakery side), diagonal right is when you park behind at the loading bay.

I'll try to swing by this week to find the name.
