I think Les is seriously interested in a clubhouse idea. Just looking out for opportunities and openings... :)

Maybe he should explore with SLA for some old building to fitout?.....Just a thought. The rental at shopping mall are too high and no character. IMO.

Wow, this clubhouse idea is really cool. Surely there will be food. Consider Liverpool's beverages, ieatburger, what else, what else?

Please let me know of developments. I'm thinking of making investment in F&B but don't have enough capital to go on my own.

Nice to be here.Pardon me for my poor computer skill as I was born in the generation without knowing much about computer. The generation where playing pacman on DOS platform is a big thing.

I like good hawker food that is cheap and delicious.I always like to travel around Singapore looking for good hawker food which has puzzled my wife. She always said why travel so far just to eat a few dollars hawker food,we should go to the resturant. But that is what I enjoy the most as I like the food as well as the easy going environment.

Hello there,

I am a Singaporean who has been away in the UK and the USA for many years (since 1998). I am planning to visit Singapore again sometime soon. During the forth-coming trip, a few of my Caucasian friends will be tagging along and I was wondering if anyone can kindly advise us where we can go to eat/sample good & authentic Nonya food. I have also heard from some friends that the Joo Chiat coffeshop Taukwa Pau stall is no longer there. Where has the stall moved to? And lastly, where can we also get the best Popiah in Singapore?

Hope to hear from anyone soon and thank you all in anticipation.

Welcome Hing!

The aforesaid Taukwa Pau stall has emerged diagonally opposite its original location, within the kopitiam I'd call Joo Chiat Beer Garden.

Some in the blog will recommend Peramakan @ Keppel Club, or Spice Peranakan @ Biopolis. Within the Joo Chiat area, there's Guan Hoe Soon, though I'd usually stick to Charlie's or Peranakan Inn as my personal choices due to convenience and familiarity, being a Katong churchgoer.

For the best Popiah - my personal favourite is Glory's. It's also at Katong, the same junction & just a few doors away from the TaukwaPau's original coffeeshop. Some may go for the 'Presidential' Popiah further up Joo Chiat called Kway Guan Huat.

All the abovementioned can be found in the blog's Search function :)

Cheers! ;)

Diagonally across from the coffeeshop which holydrummer mentioned above is another coffeshop (Aston's started from there) that sells good taukwa pau. Its called Mary's taukwa pau I think. Check out both.

For peranakan food, you also cannot go wrong with Chilli Padi at Joo Chiat Place. Yumlicious!

And welcome home! :)
